The handbrake turn is a mating ritual dating back to the 1930's. First discovered by drunk southern hicks while evading police, and later innovated in the 70's by the accidental discovery of drifting by out of work Japanese kamikaze pilots. It did not reach widespread popularity among European teenagers until the 80's but by the 90's, teenagers everywhere were doing it and there was not a single un-bent shopping cart in the world until the fun ban of 2001 when a drifting prank went horribly wrong and resulted in damage to the Pentagon and the destruction of a major New York City landmark. Consequences were never the same.
